Prices, Quality, & Shipping
Here’s the thing. Mountain Rose Herbs® products are top-notch quality.
Their products have certifications that ensure fair wages, environmental sustainability, and zero waste production. These practices can mean the life cycle of a product costs more. And that might mean paying a bit more on the consumer’s end.
For some, that’s not an option. I understand. There are days I have to take my business elsewhere when my budget doesn’t allow for it. I totally get it. But I will add that when I do buy something from another shop I am underwhelmed by the quality. I often regret doing it.
For example: Rosehip oil. I’ve tried half-priced rosehip oil from a different shop. The dull color, weak aroma, and watery texture stunned me. Mountain Rose Herbs® rosehip oil is amber colored with a powerful nutty scent and honey-like smoothness. There is no comparison.
Another thing. The botanicals are sustainably grown, and weather impacted crops. This means that sometimes items are out of stock or out of season. Mountain Rose Herbs® even prefers not to stock an item than sell an inferior product (4).
Another thing that may come at a surprise is shipping.
Shipping takes longer than a few days. Gasp! Sometimes a week or two.
The products are filled to order not sitting on a shelf for months ready to go. This level of freshness takes a little extra time before shipping out. (4)
Mountain Rose Herbs® pricing system is transparent. That means paying for shipping. Shipping fees are not hidden/subsidized within the product price.
While the prices and shipping times are different compared to other shops, to me it’s worth it. I want my consumer power to support a business with social-environmental stewardship.
